The cover had to have the name of the object and it could only have three colors. All the details have a reason to be, and those reasons are always something related to the object. War Diamond is a different way of saying Blood Diamond. One of the main concerns was to make something that could mean two things when the book was turned 180º, using refraction as a design element. In the first cover, we can read War better because we associate the typography with the bottom of the tank, and that's right away associated with War. When we turn this cover at 180º we can associare the word Sex with the tank's cannon. Diamond can be read both ways and also have the exact same characters used on the right side in the left side. The image was displaced to reinforce the idea of looking through a Diamond or a Quartzo In the second cover, I've used the grid of the diamond itself to make new typography. The images are displaced also. Both images have a circle, representing the light and the darkness, the wealth and the poor. I chose Clarendon. This font was used for printing journal, and is known for being the first bold font. I explored this concepts by using a journal layout, and making Clarendon embody a woman who is announcing trough a journal add, that she is available, emphasizing her characteristics using the type family and its bolds. The band is called Kiss Kiss, so I designed a logo for them where their name was stamped with lipstick on a woman skin.
